In this 'little lesson,' we're looking at how using Fairchild Volume Boosters & I/P Converter-scan aid in controlling flow & level in a wastewater weir.
In the system described our client wished to control the level of wastewater in a 4-20mA Feedback weir. The control valve used was required to operate at a much quicker speed of response than its original action allowed.
By installing a Fairchild volume booster and I-P converter our client was able to send a 4-20mA signal to the I-P converter, which supplied a proportional pneumatic signal to the volume booster, which in turn increased the volume of air to the actuator, improving the speed of response. The valve speed of response could then be finely tuned using the integral needle valve fitted in the volume booster.
